Elevation Nutrition Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to be a Registered Dietitian?
Registered Dietitians (RD) and Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) are the same. It is up to the practitioner which designation they chose to use. They can also use them interchangeably. We are certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration – “RDs are food and nutrition experts who have met the Commission on Dietetic Registration’s (CDR) criteria to earn the RD credential. RDs work in a wide variety of employment settings, including health care, business and industry, community/public health, education, research, government agencies and private practice.”
We also have a scope of practice and ethics standards we must uphold. We have to complete continuing education requirements for recertification every five years. To be eligible to become an RD, you must have at least a Bachelor’s degree, complete a didactic program in dietetics, and a practical 6-to-12-month internship. Many RD’s have Master’s degrees and PhDs, along with additional specific board certifications. Registered Dietitians are the nutrition experts, unlike the blanket term “nutritionist”.
Why work with Elevation Nutrition?
Does Elevation Nutrition accept insurance?
I am now part of the Fay nutrition network. Use the insurance calculator to see if you are eligible and if your insurance will cover your visits (click again to go to Fay). Otherwise, I can create a superbill for you to submit to your insurance.
How much do services with Elevation Nutrition cost?
I base my prices on insurance reimbursement rates. Costs vary based on the number of visits and time spent directly and indirectly with clients. By providing packages, I can utilize time more efficiently and pass the savings onto my clients. Labs, tests, and supplement costs are set by the companies that provide those products and services. Some of these services may not be covered by your health insurance. Schedule a free discovery call with me to discuss the details. View my program options here.
I am a little unsure of which program is right for me. How do I choose?
Schedule a free discovery call with me to discuss your current symptoms or goals and which plan will align with your personalized needs.
What forms of payment does Elevation Nutrition accept?
I accept payment via Stripe, a secure payment platform that can accept cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and FSA/HSA cards. I will also accept cash or check. Payment is due at time of service.
